Michael Hogan thinks that by the final frame of Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, viewers will be halfway out the door, on the way to the store to buy DVDs of the recently concluded, award-winning SCI FI series.
"It's going to get every big Battlestar Galactica fan going back to the miniseries and watching all of the DVDs through the end of season four because a lot of things happen in The Plan that make you go, 'Oh, that's who she's talking to,' or, 'Oh, that's what that's about,'" Hogan said in an exclusive interview. "So you have to go back and watch the episodes. But there's only so much I can tell you because it's from the Cylons' point of view."
Hogan, of course, reprises his role as Col. Tigh in The Plan, which will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on October 27 via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The concept, which builds from the opening credits of Battlestar Galactica, is simple. The Cylons were created by man. They evolved, they rebelled, they're back, and they have a plan. The plan is... The Plan. And the man behind the camera on The Plan was none other than Edward James Olmos (Commander Adama).
"Eddie directed the episode that was the introduction of Ellen Tigh," Hogan said, referring to Tigh's tough-as-nails wife, played by Kate Vernon. "Eddie and I have become very good friends and we hit it off very quickly during the shooting of the Battlestar Galactica miniseries. And now we're kindred spirits, so it was like being directed by an old friend. I am a journeyman actor and proud to be one. It's what I set out to be. Edward James Olmos is a master craftsman. He knows where everything is at all times on a set. So it was an absolute walk in the park with him as a director."
Though Syfy is prepared to launch the upcoming Galactica prequel Caprica, more than a few fans yearn to see their favorite old characters on further adventures. Hogan won't rule out anything, but he has his doubts.
"Of course, there's the question of what form it could come back again in," he said. "Of course, there is a demand for it. I decided this past year to go to conventions, and I can tell you that the fans want more Battlestar Galactica. If the DVD of The Plan sells well, the network wants to do more. What form that would take, it's hard to say. I think there are many forms [possible]. They could go branch off or go back with the main characters. But the story of Battlestar Galactica, as we did, has been done. The story has been told, and that's it. But in this business, you can never say never." (Quoted From POPSTAR.com)
