'Supernatural' Season 7 Spoilers:What's coming up for Castiel? 7/31/2011 9:00:37 PM

Supernatural dvd will be beginning its seventh season with its number one angel, Castiel, no longer an angel but now God, and everyone's wondering what Misha Collins no longer being a series regular means for his future. He has said, "I would like to see him redeemed somehow. I hope that happens for Cas. I don't know how much—or if that's going to happen. But I hope so."

However, the character has been described as "drunk with power," and there's no way that Sam and Dean are going to let that continue (they do summon a certain character who has said he will reap God).

In fact, Collins talked about what the Winchester brothers role will be in the Castiel storyline on Supernatural, of course with some joking: "[Sam and Dean] are being kind of a pain in the ass, honestly. They need to be whipped into shape a little bit, in my humble opinion. It's hard to talk about without ruining it for you. But I sort of start the season off letting sleeping dogs lie with them because they are completely powerless and ineffectual against me. Of course, they end up being a thorn in my side—as they always tend to do." It makes sense that Castiel isn't too worried about them in the beginning—he does have his plans, after all, some of which are for Crowley, and with all the power he now has, it's not like it's going to be easy to stop him, whether that's killing him or just taking away that power. However, that's not going to stop them, and though they have faced some big villains before—remember Lucifer and the Apocalypse?—that doesn't mean they're not going to try.

Finally, when asked about the death count, Misha Collins said, "Definitely in the thousands; I don't think in the millions, but I could be wrong... but it's definitely not at or near zero." so it's just going to be a matter of who ends up dead, not if anyone ends up dead. He already killed Balthazar and Raphael in the Supernatural season 6 finale; could Crowley be next on his list or are his plans something different? What do you think will happen with Castiel in Supernatural season 7?
