|
|
The X-Files follows two FBI Special agents, Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson). Mulder is a doctor of psychology and crack profiler who has become a firm believer in the supernatural, the occult, and paranormal and extraterrestrial forces, leading to his nickname of "Spooky" and his assignment to an obscure department of unsolved "crackpot" cases known as the X-files. Mulder struggles at the same time to keep a psychological detachment and objectivity as he confronts increasingly strange cases. This plays against Scully, who is portrayed as a trained scientist and natural sceptic trying to balance her devout Catholic faith, a medical doctor who is initially assigned to keep tabs on Mulder and debunk his theories by supplying logical, scientific explanations for the cases they encounter...
